Deer Management

Deer are major pests on Long Island, causing car accidents, ruining expensive decor, and spreading ticks. Deer management comes down to a couple of simple strategies:
-Fencing: use 6-8 foot fence to surround the area you are trying to protect. This should be a metal wire fence or solid wood fence, not vinyl. 
-Spray: the option to spray is always on the table. There are organic sprays which function to deter the deer with aromas of garlic and onion, as well as, synthetic sprays which make the shrubs on which deer feed less edible.
-Changing Landscape: Deer need food, water, shelter and space daily to survive. Modifying your property to fix drainage, remove brush, and changing the layout of your landscaping can function as a major deer deterrent by making your property inhospitable to deer.
